Studied at the Technical University in Lvov, then, between 1902 and 1906, at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow under the direction of Józef Mehoffer and Leon Wyczółkowski. Painter, draughtsman and graphic artist. A representative of the folklore trend in the Young Poland period, he created a painterly panorama of life in the Hutsul region and Podhale. With ethnographic accuracy, he documented folk types, costumes and regional customs, combining verisimilitude in depicting facial features with decorativeness of clothing.
